Shannon receives ‘Alumni of Influence’ Award, University of Saskatchewan’s Arts & Science College
I received some exciting news today that I would like to share with you!
I am a recipient of the distinguished University of Saskatchewan’s College of Arts & Science Alumni of Influence Award 2014. It is the fifth annual awards of its kind honouring individuals who have had tremendous influence locally, nationally and internationally. The recipients come from all walks of life – from business people, to doctors, humanitarians, writers, artists and scientists — and more.
I feel so honoured to receive this recognition from the institution where I did my undergrad. The award particularly recognizes me for my work and contribution as a trailblazing “change agent” making a difference in the lives of women across Canada and internationally.
Apparently, I now have something in common with these great past recipients: Sylvia Fedoruk, Guy Vanderhaeghe, Robert Moody, Edward Bayda, Courtney Milne, Senator Lillian Dyck, Sandra Pyke, Right Honourable John Diefenbaker and Frances Morris!
There is more to come. I looking forward to attending the dinner and ceremony in March, 2014 in Saskatoon, where I will receive the award.
